I noticed KOM on a sign, and although I do not use Strava, I couldn’t help but think of it. I looked it up (wikipedia) to be sure. It’s not even the first explanation, but still. What I was thinking of: King Of the Mountain.
Now, there happens to be a mountain here in Bulgaria (hence the sign) that is named KOM. So, I drove up there, or at least as far as the snow would let me, which was the KOM mountain house. still high at 1600 masl or so and good enough for 1250m of climbing. A nice climb until I reached the snow. would have liked to make a full circle along the alpine meadows.
